Wanda S. Nieves is currently the FHEO HUB Director for the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development, Mid-Atlantic Region. Wanda was born and raised in San Juan, Puerto Rico. While in Puerto Rico, Wanda worked for the Municipal Government of San Juan, the capital of the Island, and held various positions including Equal Employment Opportunity Officer and Deputy Director for the Federal Affairs Department. She also worked with the municipal government of Guaynabo, PR, as the Senior Adviser to the Mayor in Planning and Federal Affairs. She was responsible for the Managing and Executing of all federal programs administered by the City, including the CDBG, Section 8 and Housing Rehabilitation. She also held the position of Administration of Framingham Human Relations Commission in Massachusetts and was recognized by the Governor and the House of Representatives for her unparalleled commitment to the advancement of civil and human rights in the region. Before coming to HUD, Wanda held the position of Equal Employment Manager, acting as the Deputy to the EEO Officer for a 7-year period. She received her Bachelor’s Degree from the University of Puerto Rico and is currently working on her Masters in Business Administration at the Florida Institute of Technology, New Jersey Campus. She is also a graduate of the Hispanic Women Leadership Institute at Rutgers State University. Wanda is happily married for 27 years to Luis Nieves, and has 3 sons, Hansel, Luis Jr. and Samuel. |
