Emilymarie Romin is director of the Public Information Department of the City of Philadelphia's Office of Housing and Community Development (OHCD). She performs similar duties for two subrecipient housing agencies: the Philadelphia Housing Development Corporation and the Philadelphia Redevelopment Authority. Romin's responsibilities include overseeing the general appearance and content of a variety of materials that explain and promote OHCD's activities. These include newsletters, brochures, fliers, advertisements, public service announcements and general publicity. She works with other city, state and federal agencies, especially press offices, to disseminate information. She also assists OHCD-funded community organizations with their publicity needs. Romin is OHCD's media spokesperson, responding to reporters and the general public. She arranges news conferences and ceremonial events. Romin supervises a staff of five talented people: public relations specialist; graphic designer; photographer/graphic design consultant; Spanish-language translator and secretary. Director since January 1989, Romin has more than 30 years experience in various aspects of communication: management, editorial, public relations and advertising. She wrote "Learning to Live on Your Own," a self-help manual for youth leaving foster-care placement. Romin earned a B.S. degree in communications from Temple University, Philadelphia, and studied various communications courses at Temple University Center City and the Charles Morris Price School of Advertising and Journalism. She belongs to Women in Communications. |
